Borobudur temple is the most visited attraction in Indonesia. The temple dates from the early 8th century AD and is impressive for its size and condition. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the temple has been taken apart and reassembled during restoration. Its most prominent feature is a great stupa capping the temple, flanked by many smaller stupas. A stupa is Buddhist monument usually housing sacred relics associated with the Buddha or other saintly persons.
