Day 5: Château de Verriers
Thursday: château du rivau to château de verriers (50.1 km)

(above) Today, we began cycling in rain. It eventually let up and we had sunshine (for a while). (below left) A churchyard cemetery, (below middle) our second guide, Antoine, and (below right) Carol smiling at the sun. Karen, our chief guide, volunteered to put our rain gear in the van so we wouldn't have to fool with it. She took off to see how the other riders were doing and we began to get a split-splat from drops from the sky! Fortunately, she raced back to us to return the rain gear before it actually started to rain.

(above left) Guide Karen, hosted us for lunch at her house in the country. Looked like maybe the skies were clearing. After lunch, we rode off to l'Abbaye de Fontevraud (above right and below) Then, we headed to Saumur, our next stop. (bottom left) Antoine and Karen put bikes on the roof of the van. (bottom middle) the Château de Verrieres. (bottom right) Dinner in Saumur.
