Angkor Wat
We left the Amansara resort at 5:00am to go to the east causeway of Angkor Wat. We we alone with our guide as almost all sunrise seeking tourists go to the west causeway to see the reflection of the rising sun in the moat. Our pre-dawn arrival allowed us to climb to the top of the temple and experience the grandeur in a serene atmosphere.

The bas reliefs of Angkor Wat feature stories of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the churning of the sea of milk. (below, left & middle) The queen's bath. (right) Angkor Wat moat.

(above) We made our way through the vast Angkor Wat complex to join the throngs of tourists waiting for the sunrise. As we left, there was a wonderfully restored snake head—a figure we had seen frequently at all the site we visited. (below) We were back on our tuk tuk after sunrise for a return to the resort and our departure from Cambodia.
