Return to Kona Village 2005
The trip began with the helicopter picking us up at Kona Village.

Then we're off to fly over lava flows—both cold and still running. Mauna Loa is still active as shown by the gas venting from its surface (below). The lava is still flowing and makes a cloud of steam (or water vapor if you want to be more precise) below right.
After stopping to fill up the helicopter's gas tank in Hilo, we're off again for views of the dramatic coast line, waterfalls, and macadamia nut orchards
