island of Murano is a short watertaxi ride from Venice and is famous
for its glassworks.
|Although water-oriented like Venice, the boats lining its canals show
that public transportation isn't nearly as easy as in Venice (but the
Vaporetto does have stops here). We did find some wonderful glassworks
in various studios. We met the Glass Master who had made one of the
larger pieces we purchased—"The Lovers"
|We stumbled into—well, Carol found—a studio that did alot of wholesale but not much retail. We had a great time wandering
around their warehouse finding things we liked
our warehouse expedition, it was lunch time in a restaurant recommended
by our new friends from the glass factory. When the service at the restaurant
was rather slow, the owner of the glass factory—who eats at this
restaurant every day—went into the kitchen and brought us back
glasses and a bottle of wine. Now that is post-sale customer service!
A great meal, as Carol's smile shows
