|This was written to be an unbiased source of information about funerals for consumers. So many of the books on the subject are biased toward one approach or another rather than providing information so that people can make informed decisions.
I asked the then president of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association–the first woman and non-American to hold that position– for comments on a draft of the book. She had extensive marketing background and had done many consumer focus groups on funeral related issues. When she gave me back her comments at the first dinner we had together, there were red notes on virtually every page! I took a deep breath, but realized her insights made great improvements to the work. The relationship we developed through this led to our marriage in 2005.
